Got my 73 Grabber wheels ready to go on my 72 once it's done. This figuring out what tires to get. I am leaning towards the FireStone Indy 500's .....

    are those OE wheels???

If not, can you take a closer shot of the centers?? noticed the little maverick symbol in the center. They look good.

Can't go wrong with BF Goodrich Radial T/A's......classic look.

Yeah - those are original restored 1973 Ford 14" Maverick aluminum slots with the original NOS Center Caps - optional on the 1973 Grabbers. For those that are interested -- these wheels were also options on 1973 Mustangs and had Mustang Center Caps. The wheels are different. Mustang wheels are much more plentiful and appear on eBay all the time but will not fit a Maverick. Mavericks had a larger diameter hub on the front rotors/discs and the rear axles than the Mustang so it is impossible to bolt the Mustang wheels on a Maverick. Dan

I figure these are more similar to the original Wide Oval tires than the Radial T/A's ..

I have a set of unrestored Maverick mags (not nearly as nice as yours) but only one centre cap. I'd really be interested if anyone has a set of caps, or know where I might find a set.

I see you got those rims right next to a baby seat. Do you put them in the baby seat and baby them? They look awsome!!!

DAYTONA RADIAL SR look good

Kelly Chargers are good. So are Dean tires, which were aquired by Cooper a few years ago. Road Hugger Radials have been redesigned and are also a great bang for the buck ( I hated the old Road Huggers). So there's 3 more to choose from...

    1 owner 73 Comet GT-ordered w/ every option, 77 Comet 2 dr V-8, 64 1/2 mustang conv, 7 other mustangs
    Aluminum wheels

I've managed to collet 10 of these, as I have a 73 GT and a 77 2 dr. I found that the small holes were for 73 Comets & Mavericks, as there was not a disc brake option yet. When they put discs on the 74's, they were the large bearings (same as granada) and the early ones wouldn't fit over the spindles. Both work fine on either for 73 and back, but you have to have the larger holes for 74+. The 73 Mustang ones were large holes, as the discs on them (70-73) were the large bearings. Go figure Ford for making 2 different sizes, when these were interchangeable! I never noticed the difference until I gave 4 to the tire guy and he called and said 2 rims wouldn't fit the 77! And if you're in Atlanta, I got a set of Performer GT's that wear like iron and grip like glue! With my driving, I still get 30-35K on them I got 12K on Radial TA's. I'll never own another set of them! The Performer's were around $55 each for 205-14-70

Yeah, I've never been fond of Radial T/As either. BFG makes great tires, but not the Radial T/A...

    On the subject of wheels....

In the little town where I live, there is an old ford truck just sitting there rusting down, and it has a set of these wheels on it. Will these fit my '72 Maverick, if I do the disk brake conversion? I'm confused. It would be great if they would fit, because they would look stock, and I think I can get them for cheap. I just need help. (As usual:rolleyes: :D ) Thanks, Preston
