HELLO FROM BAD COMET! I JUST ARRIVED AS A NEW MEMBER TO THIS FORUM AND JUST WANTED TO SAY HELLO TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS FORUM POSSABLE. i'M WORKING ON A 1973 MERC. COMET I HAVESIX WEEKS TO FINISH THE UNDERSIDE AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THAT IS WHEN THE NEW MOTOR AND TRANNY ARRIVES. I'M STILL LOOKIN FOR A V8 CROSSMEMBER AND FRAME MOUNTS. WILL THE TRANNY MOUNT OFF THE OLD C-4 AND 250 WORK? I'M GUESSIN PROBABLY NOT. i HAVE NEVER SEEN A COMET WITH A V8 IN IT SO i'M GOIN IN THE BLIND ON THIS ONE. ANY ADVISE ON PICKING UP THESE PARTS AND ALL GOOD ADVISE IS ALWAYS WELCOME. I,M BUILDING THIS COMET FOR MY DAUGHTER AND BEING IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU KNOW SHE WANTS IT YESTERDAY. THIS CAR STARTED OUT AS GRANDMA'S AND NOBODY WANTED IT. AND KNOW I HAVE COMMITTED WAY TO MUCH MONEY IN IT TO STOP. IF ANY ONE KNEW HAW MUCH THEY WOULD RUN ME OUT OF DODGE IN A DODGE! THANKS AGAIN AND I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY LEAD ON THE PARTS AND ANY REAL GOOD TIPS. BAD COMET!

Welcome to the boards! You have made the move to find your parts, and here is the best place to do that. Always someone on here with what you need. Don't worry about committing too much money to your car.....we all have! But, your daughter will have a unique car, not some riced out Honda! She will get lots of attention..good attention, because you cared enough to give here a truly great little car. Enjoy!

The transmission crossmember will work. The 6 cylinder mount does not have the extra hump for the clearance for the second exhaust pipe but you can run under it without a problem.

thanks wilber, until i found this forum i was beginning to think i was the only person to rebuild a comet or maverick. Its really been a fun project for me and my daughter. I just bought another maverick a 75 that real clean but the fellow who had it put in a 351 and cut the shock towers and did not use a v8 cross member and one of the towers collapsed. I'm eather going to use it for parts or think about it for awhile. any Ideas on cut and a collapsed shock tower!

Thanks for the welcome sorr for not getting back to you sooner I really do appreciate the big hellos from every one!
