I have seen this billboard here in El Paso at 2 different places... while driving the Mav! I've been meaning to go get a picture of it to post here - just found it on the Don't Mess with Texs site.
Wonder if that is a PhotoShop job or did they really screw up a nice rust-free Maverick for that picture?
Oh damn! Sorry didn't mean to repost.Sadly enough I don't think that's Photoshop - hard to tell in this pic but looking at the billboard...
This is a copy of the nasty gram I sent: Being a long standing member of the Maverick and Comet Club International, and owning a 1972 Maverick Sprint which I bought new, I am discussed at using a Maverick in a sign indicating it is an ugly car. While I agree litter is disgusting and unacceptable, I think using something, that a rather large group of people are passionate about, is ignorant. Fact is Mavericks out sold the Mustang in its early years. Would you use a Mustang in that sign? Maybe you should do a little more research before you make stupid signs like that. Perhaps Ford Motor Company might have something to say about this. I always heard "Everything's bigger in Texas" Obviously brains is not one of them.
I don't think they were saying so much that Mavericks in general are ugly, but that aside from the model that car in general would be conisdered ugly to most people, and looks like something someone left sitting on the side of the road... At any rate, without those 2 dents it would look better then mine.
They emailed me back thanking me for my comments and wanted to know where I heard about that sign. Probably will have Texas Rangers banging on my door soon.
They're all over I guess ...... One just showed up over here in Longview ..... a good ways from El Paso and Austin where Doug saw his .... same model and color too
As a... 3rd degree Warlock I'll be sure to send them a hex-o-gram and a pentagram for their insolence. Abra Cadabra I want to reach out a smack ya'!
