mav. 73, "tell me how much a trailer like that runs?" i think it depends on how "fast" the tow vehicle is traveling as far as the cost...around $2200 ...frank...
Derrick there Weld wheels but the monoques (center caps) are Wildwood brakes, something tells me I'll be glad I got them on all fours. To keep the engine bay as clean as possible the master cylinder is under the car and fill caps come up in front of the drivers seat. It's probably pretty common to do it that way on a drag car, I thought it was rather unique though.
It is pretty cool, but your right, it is pretty common on drag cars. Especially ones that have had to build a new firewalll
That is awesome Rick! Man thats going to make a awesome car and I know you will do it right! Good job.
I just noticed something in those pics, isn't that a GM tranny? looks like a turbo 400. guess you'll have to get an adapter or switch, just curious if that means they ran a GM powertrain?
Your right Ward...it's a Powerglide, it was bolted up to a smallblock Ford useing an adapter plate, I got the plate with the car but we have pulled the tranny and cut the bellhousing off and are installing an Ultra-Bell. I understand that because of the spacing a regular adapter plate has they have a tendency to eat starter gears. The tranny ws built by TCI, we tore it down this weekend and went through it, everything looked brand new so we are gonna stay with it for now. I got too much in this right now to drop a couple of grand on building a C-4 to handle the engine. It's funny, when you read an ad on a car that says "drop your motor in and go" what a load of . Mind you I'm not complaining, but it's never that way. Stephen I'll have a better idea by Roundup as to a timetable for coming up. BTW, do you know where to get a fiberglass hood for a Comet(not GT)?
That's definetly not a Maverick dash. I didn't realize how much different Comet dashes were than Mavericks. Congrats, be safe, and keep us posted. BTW, what's going to happen to the little orphaned truck?
I'm puttin it up for adoption I've got to put it back together, I'll probably make it street legal so whoever buys it can use it on the road and track.
Wise decision. As you are probably aware (because you're going that route), streetable vehicles are worth more and easier to sell than strip only (from what I've witnessed).
Andy, US Body source has the '71-'77 Comet hood in fiberglass: http://www.usbodysource.com/ The replacement hood (re-enforced for street use with hood hinges) is $499 and the race piece is $399.
Clint I'll give ya a heads up when I'm comin...we could make it a little mini-meet maybe. 400 bucks for a racing hood is a bit steep but their probably the only folks that makem. RRS glad to see another South Carolinian on the board....Welcome
Not sure if they a re the only ones but they were the first to come to mind. The quality is usualy pretty good too. I'll be in Charelston picking up the inbound RRS order from Australia maybe in August. Jeff
