What would be the cheapest way to replace the stock 250 i6 motor from a 1975 ford maverick 4dr 3spd on tree with a 500-600 hp motor and what all modifications would need to be made. I have already thought out the suspension and exhaust a little i need is the motor info. Would a dss racing 331 be better then a newgen supercharged cobra motor. Will either of them fit reasonably well as far as the walls go, the hood is not an issue it can be modified. What transmission would be good for this application?
cheap and 500-600hp motor dont exactly go together but the 331 or whatever stroker will bolt in, the new gen cobra motor (you do mean the 4.6 modular right?)youll have to lose the shock towers. anything can be done, but its all a matter of time and money....
Someone else's money. Cheapest way I can think of. There's surely no cheap way, but you didn't say cheap, you said cheapest. If you're thinking supercharger on a new motor, why not on an old one? A 302 would get to your range, and cause you the least fit problems. A 351 would be stronger and stroke bigger, and not too hard to fit it sounds like, you could get into your range even without the blower probably, lots of guys on here with 351 experience. Just pick your displacement and start oozing green. Cheapest and least fit problems... I would bet on the blown 302, stay at the low end of the range and just deal with worrying about block strength. Saw a 700 hp one a few days ago, ran for a few 1/4 mile seasons, never blew up. Getting rebuilt now. I imagine a good 408 making over 500 would be comparable in cost, just a guess though. This gonna be the wife's daily driver?
