Well - the car is getting close to primer. I was sandblasting out the trunk and found this! I knew there was some work done by the previous owner but it was patched up with caulk and Bondo. Here is what was left after cleaning it out. Does ANYONE have this area that they can cut out of a parts car for me? I need the bottom trunk extension, outer lower wheel well and outer quarter on the LEFT (driver) side of the car. Any help would be appreciated. Please email me with price and shipping. Thanks - Dan dmhines@mac.com
I have repaired a few of these. For the trunk drop I just used flat sheet metal. For the inner wheel well, I 've used the Mustang patch panel. The outer skin will have to be hand formed. Unlees of course you can find a rust free doner. I hear they do exist.
4-door Quarter skin the same? Cool - I already picked up the wheel housing patch from a local Mustang Supply house but could really use the quarter skin also. There is a local junk yard with about 18 Mavericks. Last time there I never really checked this area but the majority of them were 4-doors. Would the quarter skin be the same for a 4 door in this area as a 2-door? I figure if I bring a cordless drill with a cutoff wheel I can get one. This website show's exactly my situation but he happen to have NEW sheetmetal to do it. http://www.themaverickpage.com/My_Mavericks/Project_72/Rustrepair/rustrepair.html Dan
Never mind - I see that the 1/4 panels AK sells indicate they are for 2 and 4 doors. I'll hit the junk yard on Saturday and cross my fingers and make sure my cordless drill batteries are fully charged.
if you cant find any i think i have you covered. i have a 72 i am cutting up for parts. has rust free quarters on it.
antjc600 - Thanks!! I am heading out there Saturday - hold the left 1/4 for me and I'll get a hold of you if I need the part from you! ... Dan
ANTJC600 - No luck at the salvage yard. I need that lower quarter. I sent you an email ... Thanks ... Dan
