Since I have to wait for a carb rebuild kit to arrive I have some time on my hands so I will say hello. I bought my 70 Maverick three years ago and started on fixing it but some life intervened and I had to put the project on hold for awhile. The car is a late 70 with the 250 six. It was bought new and lived in Newton Kansas for most of it's life. I have the original owners manual with a service record up to the early 80's. The car has 62,000 miles on it and with the exception of the dash pad and the drivers door arm rest the interior looks near new. Someone bought it, wrecked it and left it on an old car lot in Golden Colorado where I first saw it. I have always liked Mavericks and when I looked at this one closely I bought it because everything but the front sheetmetal appeared very good. While driving it home I discovered why it was wrecked. The brakes were very poor and almost would not stop the car. When I got it home I pulled the drums off and discovered the whole area was coated with grease. The previous owner had done a brake job and repacked the front bearings with general purpose grease instead of wheel bearing grease. When it warmed up it migrated. After the brake job I pulled off the damaged sheet metal, drivers side fender, driver door, front bumper and grill. Then we have a three year pause while a lot of unpleasant stuff goes on. During this time my teenage son loses the keys for the Maverick. Now at last the Maverick is in the garage and getting worked on. It won't run because the carb has gummed up during it's nap, that is why I am waiting on a carb rebuild kit. So that's my Maverick. John Quinn
Thanks Thanks for the welcome. As soon as it runs I will take a picture. Right now it still has three years of back yard crud on it. When it runs again I will back it out of the garage, wash it and shoot some pics. John
Howdy! Westminster here. You showed up at a good time, we're starting to plan a Colorado mini-meet for the fall. PM me anytime. Mike
Welcome! I am from Colorado Springs, but I am going to school in Golden, and I just brought my maverick up here with me this weekend. Where are you at in Lakewood? -Jason
