    Sidepipes on a inline-6. That ought'a sound wonderful...:90:

Your first purchases should be Nice wheels & tires, disc brakes, and electronic ignition...

If you are going with sidepipes, add one of those chrome & black footprint gas pedals while you are at it. Maybe Cal-Custom will come back from the dead!

    or these:

You will need this from all the torque created by the sidepipes:

electronic ignition is the best thing you can do for drivability and reliability. i think clifford makes intakes and headers for that also.

I have one of those pedals that I took off an old hippy looking School Bus that used to be in the woods behind my house. I been thinking about putting it on. (y)

I'm sorry, but side pipes on a six would sound like crap and give you a serious ringing in your ears if you go down the interstate. T.L. is absolutely right about the electronic ignition, it's like a night and day diffrence.

If you only have a 6-cyl, don't do the sidepipes. It would be a difficult project, since all the exhaust comes out on one side. Wait and do an 8-cyl swap before the pipes.

Actually, if the car is buildable, I would go with an engine swap 1st thing.

Does that 6-cyl have an 8-cylinder-ready transmission?

PS--TL, do you remember what thread you modified my sidepipes on? I want to copy it to my harddrive. I thought that was too cool! (for those who don't remember, TL did a photoshop of my car with the pipes erased, but he did it in a way that you could tell he 'shopped it)

welcome to the board. we need all the az guys and gals we can get. first thing to spend any money on is safety. make sure the tires and brakes are good, shocks, etc. then worry about the performance. the easiest way to get some power is to swap in a 302. check the archives for the swap. there's a couple of things you'll need such as a v-8 crossmember, and tranny crossmember, and frame mounts. there available on ebay or from members on this board. good luck and if you ask questions on this board you'll get answers rather quickly.:Welcome:

180hp would be close though about 195hp would put it closer to the mustang, Also taking gearing in to consideration and using factory curb weights and stock specs here is a rough estimate that doesn't mix torque into effect just hp to hp :

    dodge ram 5491lbs 360hp = 15.252 power/weight
    bonneville 3784lbs 250hp = 15.136 power/weight
    maverick 2600lbs 180hp = 14.444 power/weight
    mustang 3273lbs 260hp = 12.588 power/weight

Anyways, back on topic electronic ignition + Dual exhaust or side pipes:evilsmile and if it's legal in your state remove the emissions stuff would be a good start

If your gonna go with sidepipes. I vote the v8.:2cents:
Keep in mind if you have kids, those pipes get HOT and you have to be careful getting in and out of the car.
I had them on a 74 I had back in the 70's and my Mother-in-Law still has the burn marks on her legs .

'73 Grabbers were like any other '73-'77 302 2V: 138-145 HP depending on where you read it.

Sidepipes belong on Corvettes-old ones-and Shelby Cobras or race cars-not Mavericks
    or Comets.
