On the passenger side of the carb near the rim, a vacuum hose goes to an exhaust tube that goes to what looks like the exhaust manifold. It looks like the tube rusted off of the manifold. I was wondering if I should plug off the carb or let it stay like it is. I won't be able to reattach the tube to the exhaust. This is not the tube that goes to the choke. Unfortunitly I don't have a camera to take a picture.

Im guessing this is the 76 you should be able to plug it make sure its something that wont come lose.

You may want to think about getting a new one some time in the future

Hello Nick, It is kinda hard to tell exactly what your problem is....I believe you can take that hose off and it'll be OK, however if there is vacuum on the hose it will have to be plugged.

ABSOLUTLY USELESS as long as your sure its not a tranny vacuum line i wouldnt even worry about it. i wouldnt worry about the fitting coming off the carb but where the steel tube broke off you MIGHT get some exhuast coming threw it.

I broke mine off purposely didnt do a thing to anything car didnt run any differnt, didnt change the economy, didnt do nothing. i drove it like that for 3 years till changed like everything under the hood

nick i think your talking about the heatriser it has a flap that opens when it gets up to temp .there to make the engine come up to temp faster .....sometimes they stick closed and makes the engine run like crap if its closed ....so if its intac you will need to fix it so it is open the tube wont be able to heat the coil up to open the flap with the tube gone....:2cents:

Normally the mechanical choke tube goes down to the exhaust manifold ...
