You guys are lucky. When I was in school I wasn't allowed to take auto shop because I was a girl. Guess who's fixing thier dented up cars now?
my freind had an rsx type s , 6 speed , it red lined at 8 rpm .... i couldnt take that on ... but now the purple dodge neon with the after market wing and exaust tip hehehehehehe .... or my favorite at my school the geo storm with the exaust cut out... yh our "ricers" are wanna be ricers lol
I have read that the ricer interest is over. Mind you I have read it. Seems to be on the downside here. But so does car interest at all levels. Stuff is getting very expensive and I think we have seen the zenith of this wave of car culture entries. That being said, I think there will be another wave with something that none of us can predict at this time. The past is past. The 60's and 70's stuff will fade in time, just like the model T and model A stuff is doing. So, more power to you young man, yeah Boston was a huge thing at one time. Still have the 8 track somewhere. Takes me back. dan
Not 16, and you have a driver's license? In Cal they don't let kids drive without an adult until 16.5. Roz
I have a CD with over 150 tracks of nothing but 70's and 80's Rock. Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Rush, Queen, Van Halen, you name it, it's on there. Seems my friends that ride to school with me in the morning don't share my taste in older music. Friday morning we were listening to the "Insane Clown Possie, because their awesome dude!". Uh huh... Thats about the time when I put my CD with over 150 tracks of 90's alternative, grunge, hard rock and punk rock in. Usually something on there everyone likes. The ricers that run 12's and 11's don't belong to high schoolers. Take a stock Civic with maybe a cold air intake, slap on some retarded wheels with rubber band tires, slap on a 3+ foot tall wing, some retarded graphics, neon underglows and a fart tip, then go out and act like you can out run anything on the road with your retarded looking econobox. Don't forget to add a couple of 12 inch sub woofers in, the higher the watt the more respect you get. Thats a high school ricer.
I agree to you on most part Jamie, most high schoolers cars don't run that fast, but i've seen/know some people that are in that range, one of my old buddies has a 90 240, he spend every single peny he made since he was 15 on that frikken car, runs mid 12's
I was at the Good Guys car show today, and there were at least two 17 year-olds and one 16 year-old who had nice American cars that they built with their dads. These cars were all nicer than anything I have ever owned. So no, you're not the "only" young person who has a clue about what a cool car is. There are a few of you out there...
? my friend is like 16 and two months and they let him get his license and now he doesnt have to drive with his parents
Idaho and Montana have 14.5 year-olds driving with daytime only licenses. I "coach" a high school drag race team that has taken the championship at our local track for the last two years. We were runner up before that. this year we are getting the snot kicked out of us but we still have fun, and we always race on fridays before the street racers and can stay for the street racing without repaying. the street racer use a flagger to start, no tree, and no timers, first to the end wins. those kids lie like crazy since they have no timeslips to confirm or deny their claims. even when they get beat by a car that earlier had run a best of 14.29, you can overhear them "that run felt really good, a low 12 high 11 for sure!"
dont forget the nitrous hey jamie miles dont forget the nitrous. i could take my moms buick la sebre and put a 250 shot on it and beat just about every car at the strip. real men race on pure motor. i have always wondered if their wings were off of a Boeing 747 or 727 ?
No, you not the only one into cars. Of course 5 years ago when I started HS some of my friends considered a V6 to be high performance Fastness makes it a rice rocket. Of course now theirs domestic ricers too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricer is the book definition of a ricer. Someone had to much time on their hands to make that page. From that page:
I wish I could get my drivers license.. 1 month till they let me take the test.. should have had it 3 years ago Jamie likes 70's-80's rock, I up for some 60-70's classics
We had several classics at my high school, and there was plenty of ricers too (never anything amazing though, pretty much mid to late 80s crap with speed holes in the rear bumper and a gay exhaust kits) The first car i bought and mashed around in was my 70 Maverick, then i picked a 71 Duster for cheap and cruised around in that for awhile. Still got both of them
My 17 year old son prefers mostly older music,But Like myself he likes a wide variety of music from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Boston,Metallica,3-doors down,to A.R.S. to Huey Lewis and the news... and Country from Montgomry Gentry to Travis Tritt. He likes american cars (V-8`s) He owns a 1987 Mustang LX 5.0 That he and I have done a few Mods and upgrades on (more to come!) He has several friends who are also into American cars. His best Friend has an `86 Trans-am, and another buddy of his has a `91 Mustang GT. They all ,like my Maverick too. Here is his Mustang... He respects that Japanese cars can be made fast, and that people put alot of time, effort ,and money into them...and he knows people like to listen to 50 cent,P diddy, and Insane clown posse. He just has no interest in any of that. And boy am I GLAD
