Ok, here's my plan. I'm about to fuel inject my '72. I'm planning on using my freshly built(mild)'69 vintage 302 block.(zero miles) with the fuel injection and the AOD.(I've got a complete '93 LX 5.0 H/O mustang doner).
Ok, here's the question. What do I have to do to mate that block with the AOD?
    flywheel?
    dampener?
can I still use the serpentine system with a different dampener?
Would it be easier to rebuild the '93 motor and sell mine?

IMO, rebuild the 93. You'll still have issues to deal with - mainly water pump rotation and location of outlets to radiator. Nothing unsurmountable.

Use stock Flexplate for stock 93 AOD. Keep same damper. You can use serpentine setup easily enough (relates to water pump issue also).

I don't believe you have to do anything to mount the AOD to the Block, other than...... removing the pilot bearing first (if a manual tranny was orignally used on the block - don't ask me how I know this  )

I know the tranny fits the block but what I meant was what is the flywheel/dampener combo needed.

i believe the aod is 164 tooth, and your motor is 28 oz? you should be able to get a 164 tooth 28oz

I guess my line of thinking was that you should go the donor route (just my humble o).

The motor has about 130k but it does still run good.

Neither the flexplate or damper is interchangeable between a 72 302 and a 93 5.0. The early motor uses a 28oz imbalance flexplate and damper ... the 93 has both of them at 50oz imbalance ...

You can get a flex plate from a 80's to early to mid 90's F150 or LTD with a 5.8l engine and AOD tranny. That'll make it a 28oz flex plate. I got mine for bout $40 at AutoZone
