Since there's not much action on the Sprint registry, I was thinking of starting one for original owners. I know, there wont be much action here either but between the 2...well...winter's comming and I need more indoor stuff to do. Anyway I am going to do it like the Sprint one but just more general information and less technical data. I'll call it "Original Owners Group" unless someone comes up with a better name. So how many of you are out there??? Family hand me downs dont count. You had to personally buy it new from a dealer. Here is a link to the Sprint Registry to get an idea of what it will look like. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=17962&highlight=registry
Incredilbe idea... glad I thought of it.. where do I sign up? And if you aint gotta enuff to do this winter, I got lots of stuff going on in the garage.. put your snow shoes on and your snow tars. Dan
What includeing people who have documentation on their cars all the way back to the original owner? You could have the name of the original owner, where and when it was bought new and the name of the current owner and where it's at now. That may get you a few more people...
Well, one of the '70 mavs I have is technically still my father's. I plan on restoring it and giving it back to him as a surprise. He has all the original paperwork from when he bought it, Jan 29, 1970. Funny thing, I've read some of the mav history on other websites and most say the vinyl top first appeared in '71, however my father's car came with one in '70. The car dealership he bought the car from is still around and the owner is actually in a car club up here by me. Once I get it finished I want to take a picture of the car, my dad and the dealer (Phil Long) all together...sorta Jan, 1970 all over again. I hope to do it for the car's 40th birthday.
I can go back to the first owner, I'm the third. In mexican cars, the ownership goes with the original invoice. Whoever holds that is the owner, so every change of ownership means it needs to be recorded on the back of the original invoice. I still have the invoice from the dealer in Mexico City (Auto Productos S.A. - FORD), dated october 1974.
