Well, I was taking out the rear panels today and I yanked a little hard on the driver's side panel and WHUMP, I made a pencil eraser sized tear in my mint 1971 headerliner! I knew it would happen eventually, as the thing is pretty brittle after 34 years. I guess when I restore this thing someday, it'll matter.

Just wanted to vent, it was my own stupidity that caused it. How mad I get at myself defines how much I call this car my daily driver. It IS my only car, and some might call it a bad idea to be driving a 1971 Maverick with only 74,000 original miles on it every day, but I love it.

My car has a perfect all original '74 head liner. I can't wait to tear it out and fix my window seals and put a new head liner in there.

Mileage is just a number to me unless it's just rediculously low... 74,000 wouldn't fall into that catagory in my book. :) Drive the hell out of it.

Same here. Mine was mint until I was putting a long piece of chrome trim in the back and it poked a hole in the headliner!
