What size open trailer is needed to haul a Maverick 2DR? What is the wheelbase distance on a Maverick? I want a short one so that it can fit in my garage.

You could use a 16' but I think you'd regret not getting an 18'. From what my bud's tell me, the CG of the car can be placed closer to the axles making for an easier pulling trailer.

Depending on why you need to tow your car, have you thought about the two wheel dollies?

Just throwing out points to ponder.

Problem with buying a small trailer just for the Mav is you will eventually need a bigger one to pull something else. I recomend an 18' and as wide as you can find.

Maverick 2dr wheelbase is 103". Our trailer is just under 20ft from coupler to tail. It has a 4'-8" beaver tail section and the car tows very well when the rear tires sit right at the top of the beaver tail ramp. It's a 6cyl and of course the front end weighs less than an "8".

My Trailer is a 16 foot all steel dovetail and my Mave fits (and tows) very nicely .:)

18, dove tail, and as wide as you can get....throw it in the driveway, 3 different locks, and call it a day.

You will be thankful down the road.

Don't ever pull a Mav on a dolly without rear shocks on the car. Especially down a bouncy interstate... :90:

Trailer in the driveway+lame CA homeowner's association=no bueno.

I think an 18' trailer will probably fit in the garage. When they say 18 foot trailer is that the total length or just the trailer part? I have 20' to my workbench and another 2' if I really need it.

two wheel dollies are a waste of money and they are dangerous!!! you can't back up with them and not very practical for any distance towing, for a few bucks more you can have a 16'-18' trailer. I have a place I buy trailers from that an 18' two axle with brakes and breakaway switch with slide out ramps and either wood or steel deck-about $1600.00-$1800.00. not a bad deal.

on enclosed trailers the length is the length of the box. then you have a 3 1/2 to 5 foot tongue. i dont know if they do the same on open ones, but think they do. i know my old open trailer had a 16 ft bed and about a 4 ft tongue. towed great with a '67 mustang on it.

 I thought I was the only one who had to deal with that crap! :Welcome: to the club. Mine is 20 total, I believe, 18+2 on the nose...When they say 18, its the trailer part, not overall length.

If you want, we can test fit mine...lol
