Vets get more respect now then in the 60's and 70's. It was sorely missed by those of us that served then. Glad the support for these guys and gals is as high as it is right now. Air Force 1969-71 Cam Rohn Bay, Viet Nam March AFB, Riverside, CA.
I would like to thank all vets past, present, and future. Freedom is not Free as some would have you believe. It has cost many lives over the years and will continue to take its' toll until the End of days. I could not go to the military or I would have. I have asthma and despite at the time being in superb condition, I decided not to try and get by. All it takes is one asthma attack(unless somethings changed) a little research on their part and court marshall would be had. I almost signed but I asked the recruiter and he said while he would turn a blind eye, he said not everybody else would. So I know and understand it takes a special person to make it in the armed forces. Glad for the ones who do.
Real quick: My Dad, being a WWII and Korean War vet, always picked up a hitch-hiker wearing a military uniform to help him out. I suppose I've carried that on for him. I make it a point to do the same. It's a miniscule 'reward' compared to what they do for us. I also made a small donation to Project Valour-IT today. The donations go towards the purchase of buying voice-activated computers for injured troops. It wasn't much, but every bit makes a difference.
I had work today, but took a moment to thank the vetrans at 11 minutes past the 11 hour today. I went to the cerominies in 2003 and was very moved. Next year it falls on a Saturday and I plan on going to the ceremony in Ottawa.
I'm a Vet too! I appreciate all the vets out there as well and to the families that sacrificed. I served in Nam 1968-70. Got there in January when the Tet offensive started. What is ironic about today is the fact it's the first Veterans Day I can ever remember when I did not have to work. Everybody was off from school, banks, postal etc and I never was? Nowadays I'm grateful just to wake up in the morning. God Bless You All! james comet
great job guys/girls , it's sad to think that the war has finally woke up a lot of people to the sacrifices that all of us has made I never saw combat as some of you have done and I personally want to thank all of you that did
Yes, except that its called Remembrance Day and all the Federal offices and banks are closed. Vetrans sell Poppies and people wear them on their coats and the money raised goes back to the vetrans.
