Hey guys, I have a set of Ford rearend gears and I'm not sure exactly what the fit I thought maybe someone could help me out. I do know they have a 3.45 ratio, and the ring measures 7 inches across the back. Here's a pic. http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=13032
i hope we find out... it would be awesome to get those gears from ya... does anyone know? THE SIZE OF THE RING GEAR for a 8inch rearend thanks
Call thes folks and ask them. They do list a 3.40 gear for an 8 in. http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/
An 8" ring gear will measure 8" at the outside diameter of the teeth. I don't believe 8" gears were ever made in 3.45 ratio factory or aftermarket. I have an '83 Ranger with 3.45s in a 7.5 rear.
Yes, just measure the outermost widest part of the gear. I just measured on old 4.11 8" ring gear and that is where I got 8".
What does the pinion gear look like? Is there a small stub called a pilot sticking out about 1" past the pinion teeth opposite the spline end? The 8" and 9" have this but the 7.5 doesn't.
i called the ford dealership.... those numbers you gave me dont bring up any information at all.. and the speed shop cant use the numbers either... the speed shop said they would charge me 150 bucks to set up the gears.. OUCH! i will get in touch with your friday... i have school tonight and thursday night.. thanks again
