Are all 250 balancers setup with 3 pulley grooves? I'm deliberating whether or not to ditch the A/C and power steering when I do my engine swap next week. The A/C is nice but only used it several times last year. Power Steering I can do without. Without all the excess it will clean up the engine compartment and make a lighter car. Can I just use the damper that is currently on the car are there single groove 250 balancers available? Frank ... I think you removed all this stuff from your car ... how did it work out?

The AC pulley should un bolt from the dampner by itself.

P.S. Don't lose the AC or PS!!!!!!!!

Both of my 250's only have 2 grooves. I only use one.

I just had a close look at the engine compartment. I'm going to return the header and get my money back. There is just way to much stuff on the passenger side to get burnt and melted by the header. I'll just leave the A/C and P/S.

Looks like the only thing I need to swap on my new engine is the forward most Head Bolt. I need the bolt with the stud on it that the A/C compressor mount bolts to ...

Man, I hate to hear that. That header would have really set it off under the hood.

With the A/C compressor and all the lines you wouldn't really even see the header.

BTW ... this is gonna be a much tougher swap than the 302 to 5.0 swap in my Grabber. My plan is to drain the A/C system, disconnect the lines and remove the A/C compressor and alternator with the engine then swap it on the engine stand to the new engine. I'll try to leave the P/S pump in the car if I can disconnect it and the gigantic bracket it is mounted to and still be able to pull the engine. It is also connected to a P/S Fluid coolor .. not sure if that is standard or not ... FUn, Fun FUn ...

I would suggest leaving the compressor and alternator in the car and unhooked from the original motor. There should be enough room with the battery out so you can place those items out of the way. Then you will not have to recharge the AC system.

I have swapped V-8 motors and I have swapped 6 cyl motors. A LOT easier to swap 6 cyl motors. :)

Hmmm. I guess once I get the radiator, battery, etc .. out of the way I'll see what kinda room I have.

I think you will come to realize how much room you really have compared to the 302 when you move a few things outta the way..... when Dave and I pulled the motor out of the 71 we had it out within an hour and thats with rusted bolts on the exhaust.... we disconnected it from the flange though
