Hey, my name is Dan. I'm looking at a 77 Maverick I found for $200. Needs brakes. It's a 6 cyl. car, but if I get it, that's getting pulled pretty quickly. So, I'm really just here to find out more about the car. Plans are to do something nice with the paint and basically make it a streetable race car. As far as what I consider streetable...well, we'll see.
Dan welcome to the board. If its been done to a maverick its been done here. Lots of good tips as well as parts etc. Some of the best people you will ever meet...Jim
I think you should go for it. Just be aware that you'll probably work on everything from bumper to bumper before you're done! If you're going to do the engine swap, it sounds like you've already got a handle on that. $200 sounds good to me. I paid $100 for a car with no interior or drive shaft.
mavericks are awesome..good and light... put a 302 in them and they scream .. put a nicely built 302 in them and they get 12 easy put a built 351w.. stroked... and you will get faster... parts are a little difficult to find other than a junkyard... but if it want easy.. you could get a chevy... yeah i know.. no swearing or blasphemy allowed.. lol welcome to the best forum
Thanks for the welcomes everyone! I've got 2 Chevys. My 1987 Monte Carlo SS with a 350 with around ~355hp and a stock 91 Camaro that I just sold, but is still in my driveway. I love my chevys, but I'm an American car lover that likes chevys slightly better. I've also had a few Fords. 2 Crown Vics, 2 Grand Marquis', a 91 Thunderturd and my current beater is a 1990 Mustang(I'm thinking of a 460 swap when I'm done using it for a daily driver.) Unfortunately I just got news last night after I made this post that someone offered him $375 for the car after he had already told me I could take it for $200. If it falls through, It's back to me, but $375 is still a deal for the car. I just can't spend more than $200 right now. If it doesn't work out, I'll be on the lookout for one again.
