I checked at maverickgrabber.com for interchange info on this, but I am still a bit confused. I need a heater box for my son's maverick (PO trashed the existing part when replacing the heater core). Per the interchange info the 69-70 Mustang/Cougar w/o AC is supposed to fit, but I can't find one. To me the HEATER BOX ASSEMBLY 67/68 MUSTANG/COUGAR looks identical except the defrost/floor vents that are ao the Maverick one is missing. Has anyone else used something like this for a replacement? Sorry to ask so many questions. TIA for all your help. JLB
I don't see any car from the 1960's having a heater box the same as a 1977 Maverick. Even an early Maverick is different from a 1977 Maverick.
With more and more old cars going to the crusher it's getting hard to find the simplest of parts ... yes I have thrown away and given away heater boxes .... they usually go in the trunk of parts cars on the way to the junk yard.
I found one out of a 70 mustang that should fit (according to the interchange list) at a salvage yard. Thanks all for your input and help. JLB
Well.....I would bet it won't fit....as a 1977 Maverick has different vent outlets than a 1970 Mustang. But let us know how close it comes.
Well I haven't bought it yet, and I was going by the info posted at http://www.maverickgrabber.com/interchange.html. Is this not correct info? JLB
FYI, got a heater box today out of a 73 mav. Fits like a glove. It was kinda sad, as the salvage yard had to take 2 cars off the top before they could pull it. Thanks for all the input. JLB
