Would new door pins get rid of the clunking noise when shutting the door? it helps if I lift up on the door while shutting it, but I want to fix it. Is it a difficult job?

there are two repair kits. one is new pin and bushings. they replace the stock bushings and pins. the other ones are larger bushings for egg shaped pin holes. they are harder because you have to drill out the hole to the size of the bushing. these are the ones i used. it is a two person , one jack job. for both styles. nothing but a thing...frank...

71 Gold, my brother's Maverick that we used to have had a recall sticker on the piece of metal where the door light switch is. The cool thing was I could still read the writing, and I looked up the code on the internet. It was some sort of emissions or carb adjustment if I remember correctly. It was a 73.

I don't know about the paperwork, or Nader (was he even around then?), but the actual recall on my brother's old car was a "High Altitude Adjustment" because apparently when you would take it (250) up to a high altitude it would not run how it was supposed to; like I said previously, a carb adjustment or something like that.

Nader has been around since the early 60's. I believe it was sometime in the mid 60's when he wrote "Unsafe at any Speed" which was aimed mostly at the Corvair and ultimately led to its demise.

Here is a link to tell you about the 1973 Maverick recalls. If you can read the code, you can look it up after selecting your engine of course. For those of you who don't have a 73, just type in 197? Ford Maverick Recalls, I used Yahoo, and it should be one of the first sites to come up in the list. If you can't find it that way, go to the link below and go to the main page and look it up for that year.

P.S. Thanks for the info on Nader, Mavaholic. I never really cared enough about him to research or learn about him.
