Has anyone used a sport mirror other than one from a Maverick?
When I finally get to start working more on the Mav, I want to
replace the single square mirror and add some sort of sport mirrors.
I'll also be moving them forward somewhat...the mirrors are way to
    closer for my tastes...Any suggestions?

From what I can see, the 'bullet' or top section of the sport mirrors are the same.
It is the pedestal section that varies from car to car.
Stangs (early) are different from Torino are different from LTD are different from Maverick are different from etc...
Sport mirrors range through Ford-Lincoln-Mercury stuff from late 60s to early 80s.
I intend to use my Mav pedestal on the pass side to mount a mid-70s T-bird bullet.
That will give me a pass side remote mirror. The remote cable on that model is a mile long too, so I can mount the control anywhere I like.
    Just some thoughts.
I don't know about the M2 stuff myself. If it did swap, it would be one of the only sport mirrors to do so between totally different models.
    Good luck
    Dave

I'm not 100% sure, but I was thinking that the 70 mustang had the same pedestal?

I didn't say the Mustang II sport mirrows would swap, (they won't) But they can be used, it has it's own mounting bracket which screws to the door first ,then you screw the whole assembly to it.I think I have a set of chrome (plastic) ones somewhere,if I find them I'll try and post a pic

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
mounting on the doors are differant on each maverick depending on the model.

i can tell you this that LDO and Base model mirrors have differant length bases therfore the screws will mount in diffeerant areas. can say anything about sport ones though... but if your gonna move up the mirror remember that you will have to deal with the mirror mounts built into the door.. i guess you would just smooth them out and fill them

Mustang II's mirrors set up a little taller than the mav. or mustang sport mirrors. They do match up nice. The remote passenger side can be removed and replaced with a non remote with one screw and a pair of wire cutters if you dont want to fish control cable across the car. (had plans for this untill I found mav. mirrors)

    They may work...
Just because the pedestal part is not the same doesn't mean that they wouldn't bolt on and work just fine.
On my uncle's car, we just took a loose Mav mirror and held it next to his Stang and saw they weren't exact. Still might work.
I think though, that you would be hard pressed to find a Stang mirror for less than a Mav mirror. So it is probably a useless point.
I would search out a Granada pair if I was in the position of finding a cheaper option that can be made to work. You can still find those in junkyards.

I have sport mirrors from a Montego sitting around other than the base might be a bit long they looked fine when I mocked them up
