HI EVERYONE I AM NEW TO THIS SITE. I JUST BOUGHT A 71 MAVERICK GRABBER BLUE WITH A 200 CI 6 CYL 3 ON THE TREE. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THE CAR IS THAT THE CLUTCH CHATTERS OR SLIPS MOSTLY IN 1ST GEAR. I TRYED ADJUSTING IT BUT HAVE HAD NO LUCK. I HAVE CALLED LOCAL PARTS HOUSES LOOKING FOR A CLUCH KIT AND NO ONE HAS ONE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS WHERE I COULD FIND ONE? EVEDENTLY THE BOOKS ONLY GO BACK TO 73. I BELIVE THIS SHOULD BE A VERY COMMON CLUTCH? ANYWAY THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME.

napa has a remanufactured clutch disc for a 200 for $34.15. check napa online to get the part numbers. looks like the 170 and the 200 use the same one.:)

    Howdy and :Welcome:

To do a proper clutch job, get a clutch, pressure plate, a throw out bearing, and a pilot bearing. While you have the trans out, pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced. Check the front bearing in the transmission too.

Now is a great time to check the rear seal area for any signs of oil leakage...
