Is there a rubber bushing or something, that goes between the shifter handle base and the mounting base on the trans? Something rubber around the bolts? Something for vibration? Just wondering whats supposed to be there that wears out and makes it loose as a goose?

    Dan you are the man!(y)

If I made a solid plate to put in there to take up the gap. Do you think that would be to much vibration?

No idea but ... The Competition Plus on my Toploader doesn't have rubber insulators and there is no vibration .. just shakes a little with the engine that's all ...

Willie; cut a piece of Teflon, or urethane bushing material. Should insulate the vibrations somewhat, without getting sloppy. Should be more durable. Give it a try.

I may have to try that. I think I have some white teflon somewhere that I can wittle out. But I was also just thinking about trying to do away with the stock bolts with the shank on it. And get some new grade 8 bolts that are threaded all the way and just bolt it together direct. Won't need the spacer that way.

Willie, if you do that, put a very thin piece of rubber or gasket material to keep the vibes down. At least it will be solid and not sloppy, like they were famous for. Good luck!
