Did ford come out with a RWD six-speed transmission with GM? Has anybody ever tried to figure out how to couple one to a 302? I know MegaSquirt is coming out with a controller for GM's. I'm not sure if it could handle a 6-speed automatic. That would be as cool as hell! With a 6 speed auto you can keep the 2.78's in the rear. In fact it is recommended. Five gears up to 1:1 then an overdrive. That would be a very close ratio. You think doing something like that could get me into a car mag?

Yeah, they co-designed the tranny and they each have their own factory to build them, but it's front wheel drive. That's what's in the new Fusion. Ford also has a new Continuously Variable Trans that they put in the 500. No individual gears, it constantly changes ratios. The 500 with this trans is All Wheel Drive.

    I looked and...

they have developed a RWD 6 speed, but it seems prohibitively expensive. Maybe in 5 years when they show up in salavage yards.

I really don't see the big deal in having a 6 speed auto. Maybe it would eliminate having to use a higher stall converter to get a tank moving, but other than that, looks to be an expensive repair bill looking for a place to happen.

If you want a 6 speed, and a bulletproof one at that, look into a C4 with a gear vendors overdrive. They're making a new electronic-shift version that looks promising.

I don't think a 6-speed auto would get you into a car magazine unless you had the engine and car to match it :)

    Interesting...

I was wondering about gear vendors coming out with an auto 2-speed. That would be awesome. Ratchet shifter C4 w/2 speed. That would be awesome on my Jeep truck J10. It has a T10. 8 speeds! That's like bobtail truck.
