ok i got a bit carried away. personally i don't like it... but i wanted to do an experiment at this car show this weekend. i wanted to see if the more outrageously i could make the car, if people would actually like it and if it would get the attention. kinda like most cars at cars shows.. all show no go. infact that what usually wins.. (well at least the ones i go to). well it worked. the car never got so much attention in its life! no stop people looking at the car. infact it won 2nd... got beat out by some stupid 98 corvette. but it goes to show you how some of these cars shows work. funny eh? the first thing when i did when i got home was take the scoop off. i'll save it for the next show
Holy Crap! That looks badass with the blower on it! The scoop is a little much for my own personal tastes, but like you said, it sure gets your attention. Lookin good! -Corbin
Did you have that on at the In&Out crusie last Thursday when I was unable to make it? A friend of mine told about this Maverick with a blower sticking thru the hood & since you said you were going, I assumed it was you. LOL I've made some interesting observations about car shows over the years. My Boss 302 is a rotisserie restored car & it is damn near perfect from the red oxide on the undercarraige to all the correct original re cad plated hardware. I go to these Mustang shows & they seem to pick these POS's that aren't even close to the quality of my restoration. Yet, I'll go to a mixed makes show or cruise or Shelby/Cobra club & take first place everytime. My Boss even took Best Muscle Car over Vetes, Camaros, Cudas, etc. at the Fudruckers cruise last year. You guys already know that I took 1st in the Special Interest Fords at the Orange County Cobra Club Concours in my Maverick last month. I don't think that my Maverick would even get an Honorable Mention at a Convention Mustang Club Show. Those people don't understand anything about quality workmanship. I've found that alot of it has to do with the type of crowd, as well.
GS, Yep that was me.. but it didn't have the scoop on it. there was someone there that said he knew you.. maybe that was him. but again i just put the scoop on becuase of that show. and your right it depends on the show, people judges etc.. and whenever i show my car at a concours mustang type show... most of the time i get the snotty look like what are you doing here? i mean my car aint the greatest but even then.. i'd at least like the respect. i'm going to another one sometime this month and just debating on which way to bring it. i guess you have had better luck at the shelby stuff to... becuase when i was out in fontana last year for the shelby open track day and when i went to the parts section. I ask how much parts were and they asked me what year mustang? I said it's not a mustang it a maverick. Then i would get the "what the hell are you doing here look" and they really got a sale from me! anyways hope to see your car at that one show in October. hope all is well.
I attended SAAC 27 as well with my Boss 302. I took a third place out of 17 Boss', but truely those cars were deserving & were truely top quality restorations. You could have flipped a coin over the top 4 cars. And guess which one won??? The RED one! That kind of goes along with your therory...
I know where I have seen that.... ...remember that movie with Steve Gutenberg(sp?) and the robot? I think the movie was Short Circuit? I think his name was number 5? It looks like him! Seth
