so i have an 88 lincoln towncar with a 5.0 EFI and id like to get it into my '76 250 auto maverick. So where do I start and what will I need? Iam not too up to date on my "ford Lingo" and ive had the mav about 2 weeks so go slow on me. Every other engine swap ive done has been a carbed olds or chevy (I know, I know). is there anything i'll need that I wont be able to pull from the lincoln? Thanks for any help.

mines fuel injected "94 mustang motor"...basically from that car you will just need motor and the wiring harness with the computer....., if your using your old c4 tranny you will need to buy a c4 flex plate with a 50 ounce weight...you will need all v8 stuff from a maverick, motor mounts, tranny mount, you will need to run a electric fuel pump for the "fuel injection" 35 psi , with a return line that goes back to the gas tank......

You will also need 302 frame mounts, trans crossmember, and the frame brace that goes under the engine. If you have any v8 mavericks or Comets in junkyards around you, you can get them from there. If not, you will have to find someone who has them for sale.

the v8 mount has two humps for twin pipes from the v8...

you will have to get 302 motor brackets, pump and pump pulleys and plumbing.

hmmmm, so if he has long tube headers and hangs the exhaust below everything, would he still need the trans mount?

I just got mine running. I swapped in an 89 lincoln 5.0 but I went with a carb instead. I kept the aod transmission also. I made my own trans mount but now I have to bend the exhuast around it.

Hey MadMav73, what rear end ratio are you gonna try?

I'm puttting a 302 in and I'm debating the AOD issue... I'll be a highway car and don't wanna lug, yet have a 2:79 in my 4 door '72 comet and am almost happy with my 200/C4 combo. Just want some more power. I wonder if the C4 3rd gear 2:79 combo is close to the AOD overdrive with , what , I wonder , rear end gears..... anyone know????

You probably can't use the lincoln trans mount because of the way it mounts to car.You could probably modify it to fit but it would most likely be just as easy to fab up a new one. As for the gearing with a AOD,your c4 will be 1:1 in drive the AOD will be 1:1 in third, fourth is something like -1:4 just a guess, but most overdrive cars and trucks have 3.27 or 3.55 rear gears to keep them from lugging on the highway and make them more responsive in town. With a 2.79 gear it would run around 1100 rpm at 55 mph.

its got the original 8 in in it now, not sure the gear ratio, but i plan to install 4.11's. AOD = automatic overdrive, i guess.
