How do you apply the stainless windshield trim. I know you use the yellow clips but can someone shed some light on the PROPER application...I don't want to screw it up???

Gently hammer on with a rubber mallet. I would place a towel between the mallet and the trim. If the car is freshly painted....I would mask off the edge of the paint with tape. Should pop right on.

Make sure all your clips are real nice tight ones so it will firmly hold the trim on. Otherwise it might go flying off on your maiden voyage.

Also, be sure the clips are tight like Craig said...I lost a chunk on my maiden voyage...and had to take a piece off a friend's car. Heard it take off and hit the trunk, and got home and recognized what it was. Went back to the general area on the highway where I heard it rip off, but never found it.

While were on the subject, whats a good way to remove it without tearing it up? The verticle piece on the passenger side of my '72 is missing and I want to take the one off my '73 4 door and put on it.

stick this under the chrome and slide it along until you feel the clips, and start prying, they will pop off one clip at a time. The chrome panels slip into each other, so you have to pull the "top" one off first, then the rest will come off in sequence.

I will tell you a funny story about a young man's xp with chrome on his mav.....

I was 17ish. I took off and mounted all the chrome myself. Got to the rear and attempted to put it on. So far everything had went just fine. Well after a couple hours of no luck. I got pissed and beat it on with a hammer. It's still on there like that 12 years later:huh: :p I got new chrome courtesy of a fellow member. This time I won't get mad. It was my first time, horomones and all......:evilsmile

Is it ever a easy job replacing a windsheild or gasket, Let me tell you I took my mav to a place in Middletown Ohio, to have a windsheild put in,they had it for a week, They called me and said Its done all excited I go pick it up, a week goes by I decide to drive it to work one night, it rains what happens leaked in my cd player mounting box shot that $500.00 system. Lesson learned Don't ever have a windsheild put in where the owner calls your maverick a mustang hatchback, NAME OF BUSSINESS AFFORDABLE GLASS RIPPED ME OFF HAD TO PAY TRIPPLE C GLASS TO FIX IT. LESSON LEARNED.

On my buddys 69 camero we put his trim on with a hammer but we used a piese of wood about 1/4 thick about 1 foot long that we place on the trim and taped them in and it has no dents at all
