This kind of falls in with boss9's earlier post, however i have used it for reference and everything is checking out fine. The drivers side mount bolts up fine, however the passenger side mount is off by a little (about 1/4") as far as the holes lining up. The engine mount acts as if the engine is up too high on the passenger frame mount. The frame mounts are positioned with the offset to the rear and the tabs that stick out under the motor facing eachother. The engine mounts are from autozone and they are the same part number both left and right. I dont see how there could be a left engine mount and a right engine mount, but i guess the question is "are there both a left motor mount and a right motor mount?"? What other possibilities are there? If there are none, I guess there is always time for some drill action, but I would like to refrain from it if I can. Thanks for any suggestions! Kyle
i wouldn't drill it. somethings gotta be wrong. both sides are the same motor mount. i'd double check it.
Here is how I have the mounts right now. The one and only other thing that I can think of is that this car was hit on the passenger side front when i was 16. The frame was straightened to specifications... but then again maybe not. The original I-6 mounted up fine with no problems. To drill or elongate the hole would not remove that much material...
Don't drill !!! I finally got mine in. My harmonic balancer was hitting the sway bar, so I removed it. Even after that I had to use a pry bar and a center punch to "help" line the holes up. I also left my frame mounts loose so I could move them a little if needed. I noticed my Autozone mounts flexed a little allowing me to line the holes up better. It took me about an hour to do it myself, would have gone much faster with a helper !!
That would be my suggestion. The only time i've seen the wrong engine mounts, they made the engine sit up way too high. But everything still bolted up.

i'd have the frame checked. maybe just take some measurements from another mav and compare. if there not right you may have some tire and handling problems in the future. if the 6 fit perfectly though, i would think the 8 should line up.
My engine install left me thinking and wondering the same things you're saying. Mine was hit pretty hard, but the original 6cyl. sat in there fine, and there was no "dog" tracking or unusual tire wear. I was just frustrated and probably over-trying the whole thing !! I grabbed a Bud Light walked away till the next day and tried again. It wasn't easy, like I said before a helper would have made it alot easier. Just be patient, use some 4- letter words and keep trying .

I went through the same thing with my Maverick and it has never been hit. Something about the motor mounts makes it so they have to drop straight down and not one side first. I tried and tried with the bolt in one side and rocking the motor in place and it never went in. Finally I had to pull it out, levelling the motor and dropping both sides in at once. I think my trouble was cuased by the 8 quart oil pan that wouldn't just let me drop it in straight. Anyhow, I'm glad it worked out for you without cutting!
