I would like to lower my car a few inches to achieve better handling. Is it possible to do this with out a major change? What would I have to do to accomplish this?

I lowered the front of my car 1 inch with spring clamps also known as spring spacers. Others on the borad have cut the springs 1 coil I believe.
If you do lower your car be sure to get the alignment checked because I didn't and within a month my tires were ate up.

How much do you want to spend? Fatman Fab. has 2" dropped spindles that work very good and you get to keep your full spring travel, plus you would add granada disc brakes. A litttle expensive but the right way to do things. I've been lowering trucks for awhile and the best thing you can do is get as low as you can with as much stock travel as you can and then cut springs if you want to go lower. The optimum thing is to keep the geometry of the frontend as stock as possible so you don't wear things out. I know that I'm talking trucks but until recently there hasn't been to many dropped spindles for cars and the principals are the same.

Well I wasn't planning on spending that much but it might be worth it. Why would I need to add the granada disk brakes? I have disk in the front but not in the rear.

The spindles are set up for the 11" granada rotors and the granada calipers. I don't know if the mav disc brake stuff will interchange or not, sorry, some one here ought to know.

Granada 75-80 are the same rotor as the 74-77 Maverick.

Here you go, www.fatmanfab.com ,or 704-545-0369. Not sure on the price but the quality is excellent. I had a set on a 70 mav and they worked great, sold the whole spindle set ups to a friend of mine with a 70 fastback mustang, now I wish I had it all back.

you never want to "Cut" springs. Springs are designed a certain way. When you cut them, you are ruining that. Ever see someone drive down the road and see a lot of bounce on a lowered car, etc? Do it the right way, make sure you buy new springs that are shorter, it is well worth the extra expense.

    Coil springs

I just got a quote from Coil Spring Specialties for a custom set for the front. I asked for 1 inch drop and 30% sitffer than the stock V8 springs, the price was 138.99 with shipping. Not bad! They have a web site, just search with the name.

Be sure to let us know how they turn out; I'd be interested in those springs! My 6-cyl springs had the perfect ride height but they eventually wore out. Now my V8 springs give me acres of ground clearance.
