i was wondering what is the size of the exhaust on a 1970 maverick with an I-6? Anyone know what an i-6 would sound like with a loud muffler like a flowmaster or whatever? would it sound like those imports with mufflers like hondas and such? i hope not.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
it will sound like a glass pack on the then of the exaust... remember it will sound like a 6 cyl.

if you want a v8 sound go with a duel outlet header with turbo muffers with cut downs

I think the stock exhaust size is 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" Max.

I used to have a 200 I-6 stock manifold w/ a single into dual out exhaust with 2 glass packs. It sounded pretty decent... for a 6. It was loud and people actually liked it. If you want the sound and poor gas mileage of a V8 and want to keep the 6, just pull the #1 spark plug wire off and rev it up... it'll sound like a v8!!! If you want a wicked cammed sound pull off two spark plug wires!!! I recommend a protective mask while the car is in operation... cause the exhaust fumes will burn your eyes out of their sockets!!! But seriously dont do this, I did it and drove my car from the schools parking lot into the auto shop bay... it felt like i was rollin with a briggs n stratton under the hood. Fun Times!!!

I've got a 250 with dual 2 inch pipes and glass packs, I like it. At speed it sounds basically identical to my dad's 5.0 Mustang GT that has flow masters, just kinda humms along. At idle it sounds real good, better then some V8's I've heard. Kinda loud when first takeing off from a light or whatever, but you get used to it. Definately alot more torque then with a single 2 inch exaust.

damn thats cool. One problem is that the flow master muffler only comes in inlet sizes of 2.5 and up. if the exhaust is smaller then 2 inches, will the flowmaster muffler fit?
