    HI. I,M NEW HERE TO THE WEBSITE AND MAVERICKS/COMETS IN GENERAL. I'M BUYING A 72 COMET THIS WEEKEND. THE SELLER TELLS ME THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL REAREND. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT REAREND IT IS(GEAR RATIO ETC.)? THE CAR IS AN ORIGINAL 302 CAR. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT. P.S. WERE THESE 302 COMETS EQUIPPED WITH THE C-4 TRANSMISSION? THANKS!     Just look at the axle code on the door data sticker. If its a 3, then you have a 2:79. If its a 6, then you have a 3:00.

    welcome to the board . your comet has a c-4 if it's an automatic and the rear end is an 8 ". if the axle code on the label is 3, it's a 2.79-1. if it's a 6, it's 3.00-1.:) :Welcome:

    most of the time there is an. alum. tag on one of the center section bolts that i.ds. the gear ratio...frank...:bouncy:
