All the good stock ratios were in 4 lug cars!
Pintos, Bobcats, and M2s are great places to find cheap 3.40 and 3.55 gears.
Some Rancheros had 3.28s, but those are O/T because they are 5 lug... ;)

Thanks guys for your help. I sure would like to find a 3.40 or 3.55 center section. How hard is it to replace just the gear and pinon. Thanks Dean

Takes alot of know how, to setup the ring & pinion. Need to chalk the gears & turn them, to make sure you have a nice even pattern. I just purchased the whole center section with the gears I wanted. Checked the pattern on the gears, best setup I've ever seen. Was worth the $500...

Hey Coop, what ratio did you get?? If you don't mind what type of car did you get it out of. Also is this a cruiser or do you use it at the track or what? Have you had that ratio before and did you like the performance?? Dean

Stan, I noticed you have been looking for a while. What cars are you going to be looking at. Frank, I understand setting those up is a major job. I sure would like to find a center section already done. I have an extra 2.73 center section I would like to deal with for a higher ratio. Dean

I got the center section from, "puremuscleperformance", in Wilton, Calif. It is the older waffle case housing. I got the Torque Lock posi 3:80 gears. This rearend will handle up to 350 horsepower. I use my car as a cruiser & go to the drag strip a couple times a year. I've had 3:55 gears up until now. I haven't had a chance to test the 3:80's yet. The car has been in the shop for 6 weeks, getting all the suspension redone. Hopefully I'll get the car back tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find out as soon as I get it back....

I paid $510.00 With a one year limited waranty. So far, I'm impressed with it. You can probably find the guy on Ebay. I emailed him directly. I didn't go thru Ebay. I paid him via Paypal...
