hahaha yeah I wouldn't even try that! Luckily we don't get much rain in El Paso - i think it's 6" a year average.

i've been driving my 63 comet quite often here lately. mainly due to gas prices going up cause it does really well compared to my truck. besides it does it good anyway instead of just sitting in the garage covered up. to enjoy it is to drive it :drive:

Used to be the last category, but with fuel prices....pretty much closed up shop altogether.

Summer only on days off; test driving in subdivision; once in while to work (2 miles away) if not raining.

Now on my second daily driven Mav. I've put a combined total of a little over 16,000 miles driving them daily in the last year. 11,000 on the '74 Grabber before the wreck and a little over 5,000 on the '72 so far. April 25th would have marked a year since I started driving the '74 daily. Maybe it'll be on the road again by this time next year. It will probably never be a daily driver again, but it will definately get driven plenty.

Why don't we make this thread a sticky? Intresting to see what people on the board use their cars for.

I've been driving mine daily now since November. Never wanted to drive any of them as a daily driver before, but it came down to that being my only vehicle. I love driving it everyday now, aside from not having working AC and a radio it doesn't get much better than cruising to work every morning in the Comet.

Up until last September, my car was a daily driver since 1997. And when I get another maverick. It too will be driven daily except for the Winter. Winter driving I believe is what hurt my car.:( Hopefully whoever gets it on ebay will restore it.(y)

Not my daily driver. I drive it mostly on weekends. But with the rising gas prices, who knows?

without Comet now just keeping in touch
Well If I could drive my car in my sleep I would:drive: , I will drive it daily once I get a few things done to it. But until then just Fridays ( Jeans day at the Office and Saturdays . Funny Story 2 weeks a ago Friday I drove the Comet to work. Sitting in the breakroom talking to my Friend Gene, along comes another co worker who points out the window at one of our agents cars (a Mint cond '91 'Vette Deep Burghundy in color) parted at the back of the lot covering 3 parking spaces. he's says hey shouldn't your Comet ( unrestored) be sitting out there too... sooo:idea: :mischeif: , I just had to move:rofl: it out nose to nose with the 'Vette, made a pretty funny pict, the Owner a real nice guy named Bob comes over (Joking) and says move that piece of crap away from my vette.
Today you should have seen his eyes pop out of his head :yikes: when I showed him the $10k Barrett-Jackson Comet Pict. Anyway I thought it was a great site seeing my humble Comet :162: Nose to Nose with that Vette :thumbs2: .

    Yes

    (y) I am getting divorced and my old lady is taking the Ford Tarus Wagon and my 1993 Ford F150 died a few months ago with 210,000 miles on its 300 I6. So my 1973 Maverick is the only means of transportation that I have. my 1973 has the I6 250 and only has 71,000 original miles:drive: .
