I have a 1976 Maverick and would like to use Maier Racing chassis parts. Springs, Leaf Springs and the such. Do their chassis parts for the 65-73 Mustang interchange with the 76 Maverick? I am planning on doing the Shelby mod to improve handling. I'm new here; so don't slam me too hard if this has been covered. I did a search... No responses.

    Thanks,

    Ken:drink:

There are many threads covering the parts interchange between Mustangs and Mavericks. Basically, you can use the front suspension parts from a 67 - 73 Mustang on the Mavericks and Comets.

Look at the pictures in my profile for pictures of the shelby drop. Not difficult. Just need a slow speed 1/2" drill and a sharp bit. :)

The rear suspension parts are all different. The rear springs have a shorter distance from front mounting bolt to the alignment pin for the axle so would move the rear 1.25 inches closer to the front of the wheel well. Not a good thing. The Mustang shocks in the rear have a different configuration on the top. The shackles for the Mustang use larger diameter bushings. Spring mounting plates and U-bolts interchange.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Jay,
Now the front will be finished. The rear suspension (leaf springs), will be Eaton built.

You can get rear springs from Espo Springs way cheaper than Eaton. I think they will also custom make you a set of rear springs as well.

Thanks for the tip, Craig. I'll see what they have.
