No problem with hijacking the thread greasemonkey, I like the feedback. When I had my mechanic build this car, I had few requirements. One was that I wanted the biggest motor I could fit under the hood and keep the origional lines. It just happened to be a 460. If it had been a 351 or 428 or even the old lincoln 462, so be it. I was always fascinated by the unusual cars when I was in my youth. I thought the 4WD Corvettes and the 396 vegas were great. I also wanted the largest tires I could put under it and keep the origional lines. You can see the results. Whether it races like a bat out of hell, or isn't faster that yours makes not one bit of difference to me. I'm not out to outrun anyone (except those damn rice burners with the beer can muffler tips and the superbird wings). For the past 6 years since my mother died it has been a tribute to her. Will I see you at the nationals, I'll buy the first round.

You did a good job with "keeping within the lines". The only giveaway is those big ole tires out back.

    I am jealous...

It's all in how they're built. Most of the ones left running around are barely 8:1 compression!460's make torque, something you really don't need alot of in a 3000 lb street car,so I wouldn't mess with one in a Mav either. But in a Galaxie or a pickup, give me torque,460 style!:D

Totally agree,i put a 302 in my Comet just for simplicity factor, but in my 64 pick up a small block just won't cut it.I have a 9:1 466 stock bottom end with stock 71 460 dove heads[all fresh] and a performer rpm cam,and intake,it runs 12.72 at 110 mph.Theres no way a realitively stock small block could do that.Derek.

i've seen one here in az that ran super street. 10.90 index. and could run under the index anywhere. he said there was very little maintenance on it as he didn't have to run it all out. nice looking car btw.(y)
