I found a 1977 Mav 4 door from a junk yard here in down. I talked to the guy and he'd give me the whole car for about $600 canadian. It has disk brakes on the frount and thought I'd do a conversion. I was wondering if this would be difficult to take the brakes off the '77 and put them on my '70. I heard from a friend that it might be difficult to find things like bearings. Does anyone have trouble finding bearings for their cars with disk brakes.
I don't know about in Canada, but around here the bearings and seals and all that are off the shelf stuff in any auto parts store. The hardest part of the swap will be beating the tie rod end and ball joints loose. I would inspect the ball joints and make sure they aren't loose or have any play. Perfect time to replace them while it's apart. Same goes for the tie rod end. Your probably going to want to get an alignment done afterwords.
Bearings won't be a problem. Should be available at any NAPA/Partsource/Canadian Tire. Worst part of the swap for me was re-doing the brake lines.
