gas filter dirty

I checked the gas filter in the car and saw that it was more than halfway filled with some orange/brown liquid. is this gas or what? Do i need a new one?

if you drive it close to E youll pick up dirt and rust on the bottom of the tank.

 

If I am not mistaken isnt the pickup on the bottom of the tank all the time. The only reason you would notice it any more when the tank is under 1/2 full is the fuel slosh thing going on. Other than that it will always pick op dirt, rust, water and the likes no matter how full the tank is.

 

Sounds like you picked up some water somewhere.

 

yea the car doesnt run no more. I always fill it up with gas just enough to get it off the empty. Whenever I turn the car on, it stays on for less than 30 seconds then sputters and dies. i cant even put it into any gear because it will also turn off. is the gas filter the problem then?

 

had the same problem

i had to disconnect the fuel line before it went into the fuel pump and pour gasoline from the line to the tank, then added fuel to the fuel bowl,then it would fire right up and wouldnt turn off.....until it ran out of fuel

 

Sounds like you got water in the fuel system. Pull the tank and drain it. Pull the fuel lines and blow them out or replace them. Let everything dry and then put it back together.

 

Could also be rust.
