anyone have any opinions on intakes. right know i have just the regular edelbrock 4bbl intake on my 351w and i have really been thinking on getting the air gap...i need something so i can drive it on the street and i also want to be able to kick it down the 1/4 mile... any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    stock heads have been ported,
    bigger valves
    new crank
    stock pistons and rods
doug the guy thats doing most of the work since he has my car and its 5 hours away is building me a 750 double pumper the last i spoke with him.
the cam i don't have the specs with me but its pretty racey, but streetable sort of...
headers , he was also getting me the bellhousing out of his mustang 2 that he used to race, had just put a racing clutch in it, he said it was smaller then the one that was on mine, hes trying to save space for my headers

I have the air gap but dont really have anything to compare it too since its the only one I've run on this car. But it does run great.

single-plane all the way!!! Give it a port job, also.

Everyone wants the air gap, but after i switched to single plane, I will never go back...just night and day difference in throttle response.

what do you see as your options? i admit i lean toward single planes, but i dont know of a good one for 351w. the torker II was a disappointment when i tried it. about the same et as my offy 360 (25+ yr old technology). air gap probably best choice.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
not to sure what single planes you guys are talking about but i ran the torker II for years cuz thats all i had.... and eww i'd say just as bad as a performer manifold.. you might as well keep your stock manifold.. i'd say the only thing your saving is weight. also i've ran the victor on my other car and unless your buzzing past 6500 your waisting your money and time.

form what it sounds like you have john, hence the missing cam specs and i'm presuming you have at least a 2500 stall... i'd say RPM hands down. air gap or regular

but do what makes you happy.

i'm running with a toploader four speed.... the guy doing my motor said i should just keep the edelbrock that i have, he said he could port match the heads and intake and since i'm not running much over 6000 rpms it should be fine, i was just looking for other ideas to feel better, and if i don't need to fork over more money for another manifold i guess i could use the money else where.... like saving for a posi rear end, so i can actually use some of the power i'm hoping to have

I've used the performer RPM and the RPM air gap can't say I can tell the difference in throttle response. Both are FAR better than the factory. The air gap is probably better on the strip and doesn't seem to give anything away down low. I think the only difference is going to be in your timeslips.

I'm using the Performer RPM on my 351w...tried the Air-gap but unfortunatly didn't have any hood clearance with my Grabber hood. I now have just over a quarter-inch clearance with the reg RPM intake and a 1in open spacer. But it seems to work much much better than my old Offy dual-port!

I can tell ya, on a 289, the air gap is *much* better than the regular Performer intake, assuming its not a stock engine.
