Well Project Phoenix is headed to its new home in Ohio. Inline6 (Chuck) and his brother Darrel (Boss9) came by today to pick it and the 77 4 door up. I was very pleased to meet two such nice guys. They have true Maverick Spirit and I am proud to know them. Look forward to pics and comments on the progress of Phoenix and the Taxi project. It was sad seeing them leave my driveway after this long but I know I did the right thing for now....Jim:(

Project Phoenix was donated to me as well as most of the parts to build it, so no I did not sell it, it was given to inline6 to finish. the taxi project was my son's 77 4 door and boss9 bought it for his taxi...

:drive: Well, after driving, driving and more driving !!, Inline6, myself and the Mavericks are safely back in Ohio. With the exception of an overheat from the 4-door, the trip back home was un-eventful. A little "Maverick" engineering in the form of a homemade fan shroud cured the heat woes. Unfortunately, there was no cure for the state troopers that seemed to be around every bend, so 5 over the speed limit was the set speed. :Handshake Had a great time meeting with Jim and his family, true southern hospitality ! I also got my farmer's tan early ! Man was it HOT !!!! I was also suprised at how many people came up to us at rest areas and gas stations to talk about Mavericks. Definitly a conversation starter. Well, the 4-door is tucked away in the garage till after my daughter's graduation, then the fun begins !!! Thanks again Jim.

Darrel, glad to see you and Chuck make it back safe and sound. :)

A few years ago, Suzy and I went to KY to pick up the 69.5' and a parts car, and we had the same response at the gas stations and rest stops. It was amazing how many people came up to us to talk about the cars. We even had two way radios, and some people even were making positive comments on them as well. The funny thing was, the cars were far from show quality, but that didn't deter the interest in them. Craig, nothing elaborate. Zip ties and an oil case cut down to box the radiator !! Sounds hokey but didn't overheat anymore after that.
