Didn't Eagle Coach make RVs? It may just be a case where they have been bought out or the name has been changed. A little more research may find them.

Hey if they are that Rare, finding one and restoring it would be off the charts,

No different in execution than a Maco Shark 'Vette. Remember the 70's had a lot of crazy stuff.. look at some of the rediculous Vans back then, spoilers ground effects.. etc ON a VAN !! :yikes: , Hey isn't that what the Maverick/Comet Mentality is all about.. owning something Different! The 70's decade was crazy, Garish opulent, rediculous, Bell bottoms, leisure suits, Big bumpers, under tuned, but it was an era no one who lived it will forget.. Thats why I'm keeping my my big- sit- on- it- and- rest- a -spell- bumpers on my Comet, to me taking a big bumper off and putting on a Small bumper is no different than making it a dragon fly, It's all taste, My '74 didn't have a small bumper so it's not going to get one. In the 50's it was huge tailfins.. how much are some of those cars worth now.. ;)

GO for it, and show us the results, I hope you find it!! But just don't turn a Grabber, Sprint, Stallion or Comet GT into one, for obvious reasons.

If you are ever in Des Moines, go to an area called Valley Junction, there's a store there called Atomic Garage, they are heavy on 70's stuff, Platform Shoes, LEISRUE SUITS, Elvis glasses the whole nine yards!!

Wear that pastel green, yellow Orange blue, Grey Leirue suit in good health.

he woudln't it be a kick to have a Halloween Car show where everyone dresses like they did in the years their cars are?

Lots of Feathered hair and lesure suits for the 75- 77's , etc.

What does "different" have to do with ugly ?? Nothing.

I don't consider it a "piece of Maverick history" at all, because Ford never produced it. Some private company did it and it was "so popular" that they went out of business.

And before anyone even tries to compare it with Yenko or Shelby, those were authorized by GM and Ford respectively. Comparing that atrocity to cars like that is the epitomy of "apples & oranges" comparison. Those cars looked great and were fast as hell, neither of which apply to the "Drag-N-Fly".

I know some of you guys are collectors and just like to collect things, but I'm not a collector. I like cool cars, and there's just nothing cool about that car, sorry...

There are many people who say the Maverick/ Comet line itself is ugly, Icluding my wife and her friends, and most of my Family, however my Daughter who is 15 loves my Comet, its all a matter of opinion. Different tastes for different people. you say dragonfly is ugly too yes we get that, and others agree but you may find as many who like it, personally it's not for me but but respectfully, your opinion is not the end all opinion. Please remain respectful to others

Tl by the way, not trying to argue, just trying to ask that you try not arguing about something that is a matter of opinion, Saying a 302 was an option for a Maverick is a fact
Stating the Maverick is Ugly, is opinion, Stating the Comet GT had a hood scoop is Fact Stating The Comet is more beautiful in styling than a Pacer, is ... yes an opinion, seems like fact to me too but it is still an opinion. NO hard feelings ok!

I agree with T.L. 100%. And yea, thats my opinion.

Converting a big bumpered car to small bumpers is COMPLETLY, 110% diffrent then converting it to an Ug-ly-fly.

You going to build something like that, you better be prepared for people to not like it. Just like doing an off brand engine swap or any other custom car. Thats a fact.

To state an opinion is one thing but to keep repeating it over and over makes no sense :hmmm: :coco: :deadhorse

OMG! I have never seen that before... That is so cool! I think its even cooler than the Denim interior option I saw in an AMC...

If you can find or even produce those parts, hats off to you!

What does ramaining "respectful" have to do with anything I have said? Stating the facts and opinions I have stated is not disrespectful in any way, shape, or form.

I know exactly why some people think Mavericks are ugly. It's because they have seen many that are. That gawdy LDO crap that Ford put on there is an eye-sore, and so many people have driven these cars into the ground with little or no maintainence. They're dirty, dilapidated, bent-up, rusted-out, have dated tires on them, saggy-ass, torn & rotted interiors, missing or broken parts, faded, multi-colored pieces of crap. And let's not forget those big-ass bumpers. yeah, they're "safer" in a collision and can withstand a 5mph "bump", but appearance-wise, they are much too large for a small car like that. It's something more suited to the Gran Torino, LTD, & Lincoln models.

The fact is that Maverick (Comet) itself has beautiful & sporty body lines (2-door models) and most people can recognize this, and when you get rid of all the extra crap (or replace what's missing as the case may be) and clean them up, there is absolutely nothing ugly about them. Of course the Chevy guys will talk trash about it, just because it's a Ford.

Like I said, the Drag-N-Fly is a bastardized Maverick....period. People have every right to like it if they want to, but my telling it like it is, is not being disrespectful. I realize it's not "politically correct", but you'll never get that from me...
