I am up in NC for the day and my main goal for the day is to remove the dash from my '74 Grabber and everything under/behind it so that I can get a clearer view of the damage done by the wreck. I took a flathead screwdriver and chipped away the entire lower inside part of the windsheild gasket (yea, it is that old and brittle) It chipped away like plastic... I now have semi-easy access to the screws at the base of the winsheild. After I remove those, what else do I need to unbolt and remove for the entire dash to come out? I see that it has L shaped brackets on either side that are screwed to the bottom of the dash and to the lower A-piller area. Obviously I will need to unbolt the steering colum. I'd do a search on it, but the dial up internet up here is slow and I don't feel like searching through 15 pages to find what I'm looking for. Thanks.
The Screws Along The Bottom Of The Windshield, I Think 3 Bolts On Each L-braket And A Couple Where The Steering Column Bolts To The Dash. That's About It, Then Just Pull The Dash Back And Un-do The Wiring And Heater Cables. Ive Done So Many That I Can Have One Out In 15 Minutes. 1/2", 9/16" And 1/4" Sockets Is About All You'll Need. I got it out. It's a pain without takeing out the windshield. Now to get the heater box and all that out.
Got it all the way down to the firewall on the inside. Man, the inside feels so much bigger without the dash and all that. Tomarrow I'll be pulling the dash and everything out of my '76 shell and using that to measure and compare to see just how far things are off. It's not nearly as bent up and out of whack as I was expecting. Now I just need to throw my old 4 lug rear back under it and get it rolling again and it will be ready to head off to the body shop.
