Does anyone know where the factory placed the emissions sticker on a 74 V-8 non A/C Mav? The compartment has been blacked out by a previous owner. I have a new emissions sticker, but I'm not sure where it goes or which side of the compartment it needs to go. Thanks.
Our Concours representative will probably tell you that it goes on the passenger side shock tower, facing you as you check the radiator. Dan may confirm that if I am correct. Seth in NC
Actually the emissions decal always went on the valve cover .. right side on an I6 and right side of right driver side valve cover on a V8 ... The Service Specification decal goes on the front of the passenger side shock tower ..
I have seen some of the yellow/orange bright stickers on the shock tower. Perhaps they varied by assembly plant or year. Mine had remnants of a yellow one on the valve cover. Long gone and don't remember which side or what they said. Seth
Just wondering ... where did you find 1974 emissions and/or Service spec decals? Osborne doesn't list them for a 74? Also RayzorSharp has a 100% all original V8 74 ... maybe he'll chime in ...
A service spec sticker is probably what it is. It has plug gap, idle speed, and timing info for the engine. I got the stickers at the last Auto Fair from a vendor who is always there. He has a sticker for everything you can think of. I also picked up the "caution fan" sticker and a 302 4v air cleaner decal that I'm guessing is used on a Mustang that is the same style as the factory 302 2v decals put on the Mav air cleaner.
You are describing the emissions decal for the valve cover. Service specs has information about changing oil and filters as well as anti-freeze info ...
