Yep, I have yet another Maverick. This brings my total to 6 Mavericks. I am giving this one to my brother, along with the '72. Got the car from Earl Branham (thanks Earl!). He's had the car stored at his parents house in South Carolina for quite a while and it was time for it to get gone. Me and my grandpa made a 650 mile round trip Tuesday to Lugoff, SC to get the car, sight unseen. Car is a Canada built '73 2 door (3X91L) , 250, was a factory 3 on the tree car, but someone has converted it to a C4 automatic. Has factory A/C and a 3.00 rear. The doors are rusty and it had a Comet hood and grille on it. The hood is totally junk. The rest of the car is VERY solid. The floors, trunk and everywhere are rust free. Cowl is rust free. Front fenders are useable. What blows me and my grandpa away is the car has a 12 DSO which is Buffalo, NY. This car must not have spent much time up there, thats for sure. There can't be to many Buffalo, NY cars left this solid. These pics were taken earlyer this afternoon. I have been working on the car for a few days already. It had been sitting for about 12 years and was dirty and all the tires were flat when we got it. It had Cragers on the front also, but the tires wouldn't hold air. I already have the car running and driving. Car has 97,000 on it which I am about positive is original mileage judgeing by how well it runs. This one will be my brother's permanent replacement for the '74 Grabber. I think he is wanting to repaint the car the factory "Medium Bright Yellow" and either white or the factory tan interior. Something I found strange is that the trim code is "BT" which is "Medium Light Avacado". This car obviously had factory tan interior, not avacado. I'm wondering if it was a factory screw up. Overall it's a great car and with a little work I think it will really be nice. The body is definately alot nicer then it first appears. I am planning to swap the doors though.
Dang Jamie !! Save a couple for the rest of us !! JK, good find. After I finish the 4-door I'll be on the hunt for a 2-door. After seeing the condition of southern cars I will not buy a northern one. What's your plans ?
Plans for this car are to give it to my brother to replace the '74 Grabber which was his when I wrecked it (it's mine now). I am also giving him my '72 2 door because I only gave $100 for that body and 90% of the parts on it are off the Grabber. We are currently shareing the '72, but it will be totally his once I get my '69.5 on the road.
He had to go to South Carolina to get that one. I'll bet Jamie and Tyler together still haven't $2,500 (not including gas money to go get 'em) on all their Maverick stuff.
I like this car alot, better than the grabber, especially the lack of rust combined with the 3.00 gear and AC with low miles. Don't know how I want it to look yet but whatever I do the pinstripe is going back on. Really sets it off.
