For the earlier models with the package tray under the dash, how would the radio have been deleted? Was there nothing there? Was there a plate blocking off the knob and center opening like later models? If a car was radio delete, was there no speaker grill in the dash? I know I have seen fenders with no antenna. If there was a radio delete plate on the mounting housing, I am looking for one. Seth
You would think on package tray cars they would just leave it out, and have nothing there, I've only seen one car with radio delete, it was a 74, and it just had a soild panel where the radio was, no antenna and I would think no speaker.
There had to be something there, because with no radio bezel, it would just be a big gapeing hole straight into the internals under the dash since the back "wall" of the package tray ends at the middle support. Maybe it was a diffrent package tray that the back wall continued or something?
I think I sold the tray I had with the radio delete ... not sure if I still have the picture. Basically there was a cardboard backing plate held to the package try with clips to the area where the opening is for the radio so there was no hole .... I'll see if I can find pictures tonight ... It was in the Red Grabber with White Interior that I parted out a couple years ago ... Here is the post where I sold it ... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=15445 Apparantly Dennis has a picture of one as well ...
Not sure about the earlier models, but my '75 was radio delete. No antenna and no speaker. The dash had the slotted holes for the speaker but there was no speaker or the bracket that it bolts to.
