I think some folks are too proud and some do take it personaly, and I don't even know what the issues are. And if the two meets are in the same week, there is a problem for some and a reason for others. Just sounds like no communication to me, which can lead to speculation and hard feelings.
    Hmmmm...

There are a lot like you, Roz.

There are many members who will never attend a Roundup due to distance, time, other obligations etc. That's okay. Same is true for other clubs.

I wish the MCG the best as well. I'm with Dennis on this, there is room for everyone.

Ill support just about anyone for the betterment of out hobby, but why pick the same proposed roundup date as the next MCCI roundup? This forces people to choose one roundup over the other and prevents people and the automotive media from attending both. I really think it would be much better for our hobby if both events were held at different times of the year as this would give us a lot more exposure. :2cents:

I also wish the MCG the best of luck and can see why there has been frustration, but we are too small of a group of people as Maverick/Comet enthusiasts(which can include racers, restorers, modders, everyone!) to make an impact if we disband...again. As it is already, we only had 40 some cars at the "Nationals". What company is going to want to support that? Or better yet, why would a company want to make reproduction parts for that?

Personally I can only attend 1 meet with that kind of distance a year so conflicting dates doesn't matter ...I have good friends in both groups so I'll probably alternate years.... I've never been one to sit back and watch, I prefer to participate, and I'll be a member of both clubs as long as they'll have me.

I guess I just don't understand the purpose for starting such a "club", and I too wonder why the roundup date is the same as MCCI's. I have seen this same thing occur in another car club (non Maverick related) and it ain't pretty...

I don't know the conflicts, hell most of you don't even know me,. I haven't been here all that long. But from what I see this is a maverick civil war in the making. Why can't the mcg meet be the same weekend as the round up if they are within driving distances of one another. sounds like a win win situation. racers race, showers show and the talkers talk. If the leaders of the two groups are any kind of men they will put aside their differaces for the betterment of the mavericking hobby.forethemore mavericking is now about to break into the mainstream I dont know about you but I wouldn't want to be the one to seperate the powers that be and cause this thundeous momentom to stumbleeveryones freind james

To each his own. However the word Mafia started out with an entirely different meaning. It means to attain perfection in ones craft. I plan on doing that as racing is my Craft. ;) Besides words are just words they can be twisted to mean alot of different things. I respect your out look though....:tiphat: :Handshake

Back in the 1700s, a group of people didn't like how their country was being governed so they left it to start and new country where folks had the freedom to gather in whatever way they chose to. They welcomed people from many other faiths and nationalites to join them, and these people crossed oceans to be part of this new nation, and still do. They suffered many hardships during the struggle for independence but ultimately the country they formed became the most powerful in the world due to the concept of personal freedom.

Though I choose not to take sides in this debate, I relate this story because I think it is relevant to this topic. People on both sides of the fence might reflect on history a bit to determine why these events are taking place at all.

My personal take on this whole dealo. I am not speaking for a club or anybody else just Me. The MCCI is a good thing for many people. It isn't for everybody. The MCG is a good thing ,again, it isn't for everybody. Now I ask you this? Do you really think it would matter what dates the event(s)are? Most people are going to lean one way or another. Distance, fundage, and friendship all playing a role in that decesion. Some people may take this as a grumbling few(perhaps that's true) We are still well with in our rights to join any club, group ect....we choose. Just as you are. Will it make the MCCI smaller? I'm not convinced it will. I have personally heard from officers of the MCCI say "start your own club" and maybe "it's time to split the club". So that has happend. The MCCI will have continued success as it well should. The MCG on smaller scale should to. I see it as a win/win Will the maverick community suffer as a whole? I doubt it as most members will frolic between both clubs. which is fine a and dandy from my point of view. I say keep the peace and keep on maverick....

How many Maverick Clubs are there?

What's the other one? I didn't know there's more than one club. Will this new one make three, or more than three?

well for the rec there is no set date or place as of yet for the mcci's roundup  so there for its all open and if the mcci picks the same date then its on them.........i like the idea of having a say as to what happens and goes on by meens of member vote...as far as vendor or sponsor goes the MCG has some in the works( Because the members vote it …not a select few :bowdown:that say they don’t like that product or brand :tiphat: )
