I bet someone has bugged that car or put a tracking device on it, you had better just give it away :D . J/K I have never seen one of those either, maybe another "maverick mystery".

I just found that thingy too when playing with my new 74. I'm still havin' a bitchin' time getting that antenna plugged into a hole in back of the radio.

Seatbelt interlock? What does it actually do?

Yep, seatbelt interlock. That box is basically a brain box that controls the pressure sensors that were in the seat originally. It detected if any weight was onn the seats. If there was, and the seatbelt wasn't buckled, it wouldn't allow the car to start. You turned the key and the "FASTEN BELTS" would light up and a buzzer would go off. The car would start normally after buckleing up.

If you want to get rid of it, look on the drivers side in front of teh shock tower under the hood. There will be a metal box with a red button on it. That is the self destruct button. Ok, I lied. That is the seatbelt interlock bypass button. Unplug it and solder all the wires to it together. Then you can remove the brain box under the dash and the car will still run.

They were on all 74's and I believe very very early production 75's.

Hm. My car buzzes until I put on the seatbelt, but has no problem starting without it.

And just a bit off course, anyone have a picture of the back of an AM radio out of a 74?

that's weird cause i have stuck my arm thru the window a million and one times to start the car and never had any problem. as a matter of fact, i neevr heard the thing buzz. and it was still hooked up when i stated taking some of the things out of the dash. oh well, just one of those things i guess. and this car was built 12/74 so you're prolly right about it being only 74's and early 75's. thanks for the info. now i can target practice with it:29: since it's not important or of any value
