Anyone got a pic of how the throttle linkage is supposed to hook up? I cannot figgure it out...

The engine is a 200 out of a 71 Grabber with a C4 trans. I`m begining to wonder if the original carburetor was diffrent or something? The original drivetrain was long gone when I bought the car...

I once used an 250 engine from a 69 stang. The linkage was way different than any other 250 I ever saw. perhaps you got two different setups going on there. 71 engine and 69.5 throttle cable. I don't have a clue if the cables/setups are different tho, just guessing.

Yea, it's definately way diffrent then the normal Maverick throttle cables:

The first logical place it would seem to go would be on the rear passenger side of the head under the same 2 bolts as the kickdown linkage. Infact, it fits there and bolts up just fine. But there is no possible way to connect it the carburetor so that it actually works the throttle. I am totally stumped, and this is keeping me from takeing the car out on it's maiden voyage down ol' Shady Grove Rd.

There was a different carb that accepted that linkage on the 69 stang engine. I used my 76 linkage and carb. I had to modify something.....just can't remember. That was at least 10 years ago.

Get a later maverick throttle cable. should be easy from that point.

Here ya go, I hope this helps
Looks like you are missing the piece that goes from the linkage to the carb.

My 69.5 had the 200, it has a long throttle cable to reach clear over to the carb, and the bracket it bolted to. The kickdown was hooked to the carb linkage, not the throttle cable. If you need an original carb or a photo, I still got everything left over from the V8 swap. Chad

That's it! All makes sense now. So I don't have the right carb and I am missing a piece. Hmm... My first thought is to convert it to the later style throttle cable, but it is diffrent up at the firewall and I'm not sure if it is the same where it connects to the pedal yet. I'll figgure something out.

Is there any companies that make custom throttle cables? You'd think there would have to be.

I'm sure Lokar and companies like that do. Seems it would be easier and cheaper to just get the stock setup working. Haven't had much time to work on the car today, but I have the rest of the evening to mess with it, so I'm about to head out. I did manage to take it out down some old backroads today. Just tied a wire around the throttle linkage on the carb and ran it in the window so I could pull on it to give the car gas. :biglaugh:
