engine is in (pics) well as of one hour ago i got my engine into the car, sort of my victory post, tomorow will be installing headers and few other things, now i got a quick question, what do you guys use to ran your trans lines to the cooler? just rubber hoses or do you use something else?
Stay away from the rubber lines. You can get 3/8 brake line and bend it to fit the car. Use unions to add more line till you get to the rad. Then cut the line and flair the end and screw it into the rad. No trouble there, trust me the rubber line WILL fail at the least oprotune moment.
Yeah. I agree. I bent my own lines and I was much happier with the result. It helps if you have the old ones to go by though.
Although I do agree with fordmaster there is a rubber trans hose available but you don't want to use it in long sections... it is sold for adding coolers and will hold up to most street uses. If you come accross this hose think only of using it in short sections with good barbing...
I use rubber. Get fuel line. It is designed for use with gasoline and is tougher. I agree that steel is optimum, but it is not always 'in the cards'. Most car makers use sections of rubber in the lines somewhere, so it's not taboo. Dave
For coolers I've always used rubber lines. I've never had one fail. I probably wouldnt use them for anything longer than a foot or so. But for coolers they work fine, that's why the companies that make coolers include them in their kits or at least recommend using them.
Motor looks awesome!! as for lines. I like steel, I bought a tubing bender, makes it easy, so there is no reason for me to use rubber.
if you still have some of the hard line left....I would use the hard line (from tranny) until I cleared all the heat sources, then flare the hard line and run rubber (easier to run) up to the cooler.
i think i'm going to just bend the 3/8 brake line to fit, it would look better then alot of rubber line going all over the place, could i use the same brake line for fuel line in some places too correct?
