I don't think it's fair that he uses his wheelie bars for that "extra spring launch." I was amazed at how easy it seemed to settle and he maintained control of the car.
i would have thought it was goin to come down harder, i dk but that was crazy, talking about lift off
"They" say that's one of the most difficult things to do - keep your foot in the throttle and let it come down by itself "gently". Understandably, I've seen a lot of drivers let out and then the front end drops hard. (I do believe there is a video of a certain Comet GT on here that did something similar - like drag the bumper of his Maverick, let off, came down, bent the front shocks, bust the oil pan, etc 'Not naming names ) I'd love to be able to tell either story about MY Maverick one day. :16suspect
i cant imagine goin up like that , i would have to say i would let off the throttle just because i think its natural instict to , but im sure it takes balls to hold it to the floor
Having been around ATV's, bikes, and the like for most of my life, I can tell you....yes, it's hard to "power" it down. Was on a sport bike the other day on a test ride and got on the throttle....and lemme tell ya, it was HARD to power through it, then throttle it some MORE as it was coming down. Needless to say, the pucker factor was, on a 1-10 scale (10 being PUCKERED UP), an 11. I suppose that I "could" play with the 4 link & get the bumper to drag a little on mine...but no need in tearing up good equipment. Especially not on my budget. Matter of fact, I just recently moved the bottom bars down one hole in the front to level out the launch. It worked but now I have to start all over again in reguards to 'getting the light'. Car reacts a little slower now. Not pulling the wheels out of the beams.
Good grief...I only had to watch it 3 times to believe it...WTH good are the wheelie bars? If the bars hadn't been there he wouldn't have unloaded the rear tires...either ending up on the roof or carrying it the length of the track.
Okay, I didn't want to start another thread with wheelies so I'll throw this one in here too (another "pretty nice" wheelstand). At The Clash of the Titans (COTT) race last weekend in San Antonio, TX : (best bet = right click - save as) http://alamoride.com/downloads.php?cat_id=12&download_id=92
i believe he could have drove it all the way on the back bumper , thats another 11 or 12 on the pucker scale i couldnt believe that it went back up at that speed , i know it had some bounce but shees....
