what is the better to go with i hear all different stuff.....a 351w or a 302?????? thanks mavgrab1971
Too little information to go on. What's the application? My personal opinion is to go with the 351 bored and stroked to 393 c.i. if we're talking strictly performance. If you're talking a daily driver on a budget, find a used roller 5.0 (relatively inexpensive) to throw in it and drive forever.
if it's going into a maverick/comet...go with a 302 or stroker 302 (331..347..355). Fits a lot better and headers are much easier to find. But, if you don't mind a little cutting and welding, a 351 based engine would be a better choice. They make stroker kits for a windsor all the way up to 454 inches:bananaman
351w is the way to go.i think it is worth the work and all the trouble why stroke a 302 out when you can start out with 351ci the 302s run but you have to spin high rpms
You'll find that a 302 or stroked 302 will be easier to fit in, but I must agree with everyone else that a 351, 393, 408, 427, 454 would be the engine for most horsepower. If you have the time, money and skill then by all means go with the Windsor. Bossmav
See I agree with the displacement coment...........so why are you guy's messing with those little motors
because thats what was in it when we brought it home..........did I mention we gave a whoppin $50.00 for it........besides it is Rondi's.....not mine
